SF Worth Reading will feature books I enjoyed reading and a few I didn’t.
Over time I plan to add some more details to each book listing such as publication date, publisher, and links to places to read or buy the books.
The books come from a list I have kept for my own reference. I wanted a way to put the list online, making it browsable by author, rating or title while keeping the process of adding new books to the list simple. At the same time, I wanted the hosting and management of the site to stay as cheap and straightforward as possible. Therefore I chose to keep the site design entirely static.
This site is created with the static site generator Jekyll and a custom Ruby script. It takes my recommended fiction list – in the form of a single Markdown document – and generates an index of authors and rating index. The only handcrafted part is some of the front page and any book review text.
